There's a bit of a Scottish flavour to the show (I must stop filtering the poteen through that old kilt), but more by accident than design. They've got to stop producing such good music north of Hadrian's wall.

Well we're back after an extended break. One of my New Year's resolutions was consistency and regularity. No doubt the bran will begin having an effect any time now.

Now, can you work out who that is with Adam Boucher in the picture?

Tom Waits - a legend! makes an appearance on the Podsafe Music Network, along with Marianne Faithfull, who has abandoned her motorcycle; though as I recall, in the seminal movie, Girl on a motorcycle, she crashes whilst "indulging in sexual reverie" - so thinking about sex doesn't make you blind then?

So it's 2006. Well that was an anti-climax! Apart from the firework displays, that is. And the parties of course. And the hangover on New Year's Day. And lunch... OK, so it's not so bad after all...

I didn't include the final movie of my top 5 in this edition. However next time I'll include it and reveal my running order for the 5 movies. I bet you can't wait. Don't hold your breath in the meantime though - it tends to have serious consequences.

THE NAKED PODSHOW CHRISTMAS EDITION

It's Christmas!! Time to be a child again for a day.

The Christmas show is a slight departure from my usual format, and is a musical tongue-in-cheek look at the festivities. Definitely not a show to be taken seriously. All
the music came from the Podsafe Music Network and I'm not filling out my usual shownotes (I've still to wrap Kim's presents and I do want to survive to see in the New Year).

So here's wishing you all a Merry Christmas or a Happy Holiday!

The Naked Podshow #10

It's almost Christmas, which for those who celebrate the event, either as a religious or secular celebration, is supposed to be a fun time. This is the show before Christmas, so characteristically, I don't play any seasonal music - just cool stuff!

SHOWNOTES:

The LoveGods

Deah & Company's recent album, "Audience of One" gets reviewed. I play a track as well as a couple of clips. If you only buy one album this Christmas then this could be the one (though I can also think of several others I also want to buy, such as Myles Cochran's Marginal Streets album, so I'm not limiting myself to just one).

Paisley Riot

Devil Only Knows is the title track from Wolverhampton Band, Paisley Riot's EP. You can download all three tracks of the EP from their website.

Sara Wendt

Here's Us is the title track from Sara's recent EP.

Dave Keifer

Dave Keifer brought The Shnay Speaks to my attention. It's part of an electronic music project called Cagey House.

COMEG

Comeg contacted me a while ago and I've been intending to feature them since then. Their recent, Alcohol Fuelled album is already an addition to my mp3 player's hard drive.

That's it till the Christmas show. I'm still assembling the tracks for it but I'm hoping to publish the show on the 23rd December. So till then...

The Naked Podshow #9

Never fear! The gravel-voiced presenter you hear on the show really is me, I'm suffering from an Influenza virus that metamorphosed into a chest infection - which is far more detail than you wanted to hear! Because I was feeling mellow (or should that be, "sorry for myself?"), the music in the show reflects my mood. Do you prefer the more laid back music, or should I stay with the usual eclectic, quirky mix of music that you that you listen to the show for? E-mail and let me know!

SHOWNOTES:

Myles Cochran

Listen to lots more of Myles' album, Marginal Street

Revere

Cheryl B. Engelhardt

Leah Siegel

OK, so The Motorcycle Song wasn't so laid back in the middle section. Whaddya want? Celine Dion? You've got to love a song called The Motorcycle Song. By the way, the show was mercifully slightly shorter than usual as my vocal chords threatened to strike at that point.

I didn't get a show out last weeekend, so let's get on with some music!

SHOWNOTES:

Planet of Women

Imagine The Darkness, if women had got there first (what do you mean, "you already thought they had?"), then add about 900 brake horse power and you've got Planet of Women (they look better than The Darkness, too)

SundaysAway

An intriguing concept - writing, recording and podcasting one song a week for a year, then pulling the best together into an album. Keep your ears on this one!

Pauline Taylor

Pauline Taylor has got me really excited (I know Podcasting can be a lonely pastime, but I'm talking about the music. honestly!). Her new album is a must for the collection.

Oscar walks out part way through the show and you get to suffer through the third of my
five Top Movies.

SHOWNOTES:

The Babylon Cowboys

This week was the 1st anniversary of the death of Iconic British Radio DJ, John Peel. He was a British institution and is sorely missed, as much for his sense of humour as the music he so avidly promoted.

No website yet for Imprint (not to be confused with any other bands that might also be called Imprint), but I'm sure these young guys will get around to it. Imprint are: Jamo Ware-vocals, Johnny Lover-guitar, Tommy Migraine- guitar and Spencer Reinke-drums. "We are still quite young. We hate all governments especially George Bush, most celebrities, TV adverts, Popstars, The rock royalty, Metal bands, People too big for their boots, the weather (its pxxxxng it down right now) and many more! So listen to us Great Britain, we're really wonderful people when you get to know us."

There's a longer review of the 2nd of my five favourite movies (but don't forget that they are being presented in no particular order) and an interview with a famous political figure. I also play some extracts from a recent Adam Curry, Daily Source Code, in which he denies himself an advertising income and attempts to undo some Jedi mind linking.

James Apollo

This is Tumbleweed Roots Rock 'n Roll. You can hear the boxcars and taste the liquor. Wipe the dust from your guitar and enjoy! That's James Apollo in the photo, by the way.

I'm still using the new intro and kick straight in with Caplyn. Use the links to the bands websites, you'll find more tracks on most of them - and they might even sell you a CD, or a T-Shirt

SHOWNOTES:

Caplyn

Sly Stallone gets a beating and The West Wing season 6 eventually arrives on UK TV on channel 4more. Ah well! Better late than never, I suppose.

The PocketGods

Huddersfield Town (That's soccer people!) gets a mention as do Trucker Tom and a psycho-analyst in Hawaii. Tom and the Psychiatrist appear in the new "Promo "Spotting" spot

Allison Crowe

Fantastic! A Canadian Diva who doesn't sound, or look, like Celine Dion! Catch her cover version of Leonard Cohen's, Hallelujah! It couldn't sound more different to John Cale's version. I try to convince more artists and bands to contact me - lots of you already are - I love getting emails! Plug, Plug! I've started a short new series playing sound clips from my 5 favourite movies. I'll be playing one sequence per show then I'll announce the winning order when I play the last. I bet you can't wait to hear them all. Come on show some enthusiasm!

ANEMO

I got all excited listening to ANEMO and that doesn't happen all that often. They must have added something to my water. They also must be putting something in the Brighton water for such a small town to produce so many great bands.

Yesterday, 8th October 2005, at 03.50 GMT, the Pakistan & Kashmir area of South East Asia was struck by a massive earthquake.
Last week's show was a blaster. Thank you for downloading and subscribing - keep it going and tell all your friends - and if you see the Naked Podshow on a Podcast directory, vote for me, please! Thanks as well to all The Lovegods fans for the great comments

SHOWNOTES:

Dave Green aka EKHO

I grouch because I manage to miss out on an opportunity. With my luck I'm bound to throw away the winning lottery ticket one day.

I play some promos and review Beauty Dish Radio

Curtis Loew

Every now and again you happen across a track you really like, but Murphy's Law dictates that you won't be able to find out anything about it. I will - eventually.

No Use for a Name

No Use for a Name are the only US entry in this week's show, but I forgive them all the same, particularly as they play soccer, which is as good as having a visa, or it should be.

Another half hour of your life is about to be wasted away listening to the show. This episode has been slow in coming - apologies for my tardiness (also compounded by a welcome server upgrade). I shall write out 100 times "The oral mastication of polyvinyl chloride is a pastime not to be encouraged among male juveniles." I don't know why, except it's the lines we were always given to write out at school, if we were seen chewing our pen in class. A difficult crime to deny when the evidence was smeared all over your face.
